Spiritual hypnosis

Time set aside for the part of you that is more than the to-do list.

This block of time is for the part of you that sits outside the to-do list, offering a quiet way to touch that wider state on purpose rather than by accident.

The session settles the day first, then holds your attention on a sense of connection that is already there, so you find the quiet without having to chase it.

You have felt it before, usually when you stop moving for long enough, but it slips away the moment the next task appears.

The problem is not a lack of depth but a lack of time for it; the list of jobs is always louder and more demanding than the quiet.

What is larger than you gets treated as something to visit later, and later never arrives.

What’s in it

A reliable way into the quiet, connected state you have touched a few times by accident - available on purpose.

Why do it

Whatever you call what is larger than you, contact with it steadies the rest; people who feel connected to something bigger weather ordinary life more easily.

Timeline: Start to Finish

The build is designed to take you out of the list and into the wider state, keeping you there long enough for it to feel familiar before the day returns.

3 of the 4 stages are named techniques with a published origin, credited under each.

Future self

Meet the version of you who is someone spiritually connected.

New identity

Step into being someone spiritually connected, starting now.

Where it sits

Meaning, connection and the parts of the practice that are not about fixing anything.

Before you press play

Hypnosis is not for everyone. If you have epilepsy, a psychotic illness, or you are under psychiatric care, talk to your clinician before using this — here or anywhere.

Why this works — and what the research actually says

Group-level, not session-level: no study has tested this exact session, and we will not pretend otherwise. Every source below was opened and read on 2026-08-25 before it was quoted.

Why do it as hypnosis?

Connection is rarely found by adding another item to the schedule. It is found when the noise of the day stops, which is exactly what the induction creates here.

By removing the usual competition for your attention, this gives the quiet a space to appear on its own. It is a space for the feeling, not a lecture on what it should look like.

What 20 years of meta-analyses actually found

Hypnosis as a whole has been studied a great deal. The strongest results are for pain and for people going through medical procedures, and the quality of the studies varies enormously. Some found large effects.

Some found nothing at all.

  • 49 reviews, covering 261 separate randomised trials
  • Strongest evidence: pain, and medical procedures
  • Study quality is very uneven, and the authors say so

Worth knowing: The same overview rates only nine of those 49 meta-analyses as high methodological quality and 26 of them as critically low, and notes that 28 reported nothing at all about safety.

It is the best map of the field that exists, and it says the field is uneven.

The exact wording and figures

A 2024 overview pooled 49 meta-analyses covering 261 separate randomised controlled trials of hypnosis. Effects ran from d = -0.04 to d = 2.72, and just under two-thirds of the reported effects reached significance.

The strongest evidence was for people undergoing medical procedures and for pain.

An overview of reviews, which is a study of other studies rather than new patients. Useful because it is the widest honest view of where hypnosis has evidence and where it does not.
