Hypnosis for feeling lucky
Things tend to work out for you.
This session is for the common feeling that chance works against everyone else. It runs on one long idea about how small events happen, spending time on the noticing of chances rather than the taking of them.
The aim is a settled sense that events usually fall in your favour.
One thing goes wrong in the morning and the rest of the day is written off as bad. The phone falls on the floor and it is proof that the universe is against you.
This feeling is less about events and more about how tightly you hold onto the small things that slide.
What’s in it
A settled sense that things tend to fall your way, and the openness that quietly makes it truer.
Why do it
People who consider themselves lucky notice more chances and take more of them, which is most of what luck turns out to be.

New identity

Where it sits
The skills underneath the other skills: time, decisions, attention, follow-through.
Before you press play
Hypnosis is not for everyone. If you have epilepsy, a psychotic illness, or you are under psychiatric care, talk to your clinician before using this — here or anywhere.
Why this works — and what the research actually says
Group-level, not session-level: no study has tested this exact session, and we will not pretend otherwise. Every source below was opened and read on 2026-08-25 before it was quoted.
Why do it as hypnosis?
You cannot make things work out, but you can spend time looking for the moment they do. That is what this session does: it settles your attention and then rehearses the thought that things tend to fall your way.
It is not magic; it is simply time spent noticing what you might usually miss.
What 20 years of meta-analyses actually found
Hypnosis as a whole has been studied a great deal. The strongest results are for pain and for people going through medical procedures, and the quality of the studies varies enormously. Some found large effects.
Some found nothing at all.
- 49 reviews, covering 261 separate randomised trials
- Strongest evidence: pain, and medical procedures
- Study quality is very uneven, and the authors say so
Worth knowing: The same overview rates only nine of those 49 meta-analyses as high methodological quality and 26 of them as critically low, and notes that 28 reported nothing at all about safety.
It is the best map of the field that exists, and it says the field is uneven.
The exact wording and figures
A 2024 overview pooled 49 meta-analyses covering 261 separate randomised controlled trials of hypnosis. Effects ran from d = -0.04 to d = 2.72, and just under two-thirds of the reported effects reached significance.
The strongest evidence was for people undergoing medical procedures and for pain.
An overview of reviews, which is a study of other studies rather than new patients. Useful because it is the widest honest view of where hypnosis has evidence and where it does not.
