Sleep
Hypnosis for insomnia
Fall asleep with ease. Stay asleep through the night.
Insomnia is a self-hypnosis session for the part of the night nobody wants: awake, counting the hours left, and getting further from sleep by trying.
It is arranged as a slow descent that keeps slowing, and the night version does not count you back up at the end. You are meant to miss the finish.
Being tired is rarely the difficulty. The difficulty is lying in the dark at two in the morning doing arithmetic on how many hours are left, and the arithmetic being the thing keeping you awake.
Sleep is not something anyone can decide to do, which is exactly why trying harder at it makes the night longer.
What’s in it
An easier path into sleep and fewer hours staring at the ceiling.
Why do it
Your body already knows how to sleep, so this clears the way and lets it happen on its own.

Perfect use-case: Insomnia — hypnosis session
The night feels longest when the arithmetic of how many hours are left refuses to stop.
What you’ll hear in the Insomnia session
You set the day down and notice the body growing heavier and sinking into support. The text suggests a feeling of being gently rocked as sounds grow distant.
you are becoming a deep and natural sleeper
as you rest here
you can begin to set the day down
the things done
and the things left undone
none of them need you now
the day is over
and the night is yours
there is nothing to solve
nothing to carry into these hours
the long hours lying awake
can be set aside
and turning now
Feel the body growing heavier
sinking down into whatever supports it
the weight of the legs
the weight of the arms
the head heavy and supported
each breath letting you down a little further
toward the deep, easy rest that is already rising up to meet you
And you might let yourself feel
as you lie here
as though you were being gently rocked
the way a small boat is rocked at anchor
And the sounds of the day grow distant
the way sounds across the water grow distant
- none of them need you nowa permission to stop doing the work of the day
- you are becoming a deep and natural sleeperframing rest as an identity you grow into, not a task you do
- the long hours lying awakenaming the specific fear so the mind can let it go
Timeline: Start to Finish
This one ends asleep, so nothing wakes you at the finish. The last few minutes of the night build get quieter and further apart rather than arriving anywhere.
3 of the 4 stages are named techniques with a published origin, credited under each.

Why this works — and what the research actually says
Group-level, not session-level: no study has tested this exact session, and we will not pretend otherwise. Every source below was opened and read on 2026-08-25 before it was quoted.
Why do it as hypnosis?
You cannot instruct yourself into sleep, and every night spent trying is another proof of it. What you can do is stop handing the mind something to work on.
That is what the build is arranged around: the descent is slow and keeps getting slower, the language stops asking anything of you, and the finish is not really a finish. It is meant to be you not hearing it.
Sleep: promising, and thinner than you would hope
Worth knowing: The reviewers state plainly that the evidence is limited by few studies of people who actually have a sleep complaint, small samples, and low methodological quality in the studies they could include.
The exact wording and figures
A systematic review of hypnosis for sleep found studies reporting beneficial, mixed and absent effects.
Its own summary is that hypnotherapy for sleep problems 'appears to be a promising treatment to explore with little evidence of any adverse events'.
Published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, the journal of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Three ways to say it
Whether you need to switch off, look ahead to better nights, or stop seeing sleep as a task, choose the voice that fits.
Balanced
Set the day down, let the body grow heavy, and drift into deep sleep. The default.
A slow, simple instruction to put the day down and let the body take over.
Future self
Meet your well-rested self over the nights and weeks ahead.
A visit with the version of you who has already stopped negotiating with the night.
New identity
Become someone who sleeps deeply and naturally, not someone trying to fall asleep.
A shift away from trying to sleep, towards the person who simply does.
Questions people ask about Insomnia
Will this work for someone like me?
It does not force sleep. The session gives your mind less to do so that sleep can happen on its own. It helps if you stop trying to make it work.
What happens if I fall asleep during it?
That is the intended result. The night version does not wake you up at the end. You are meant to miss the finish completely.
Do I have to believe in it?
No. Belief is not required. The session uses a slow rhythm and simple language to occupy the part of your mind that keeps you awake.
How is this different from a sleep podcast?
There is no story to follow and no information to process. The aim is to give your mind so little to hold onto that it lets go.
What if it wakes me up more?
Listening too intently can keep you alert. If you find yourself focusing on the words, try turning the volume down until it is just a background sound.
Where it sits
Getting to sleep, staying asleep, and the hours in between.
Before you press play
Hypnosis is not for everyone. If you have epilepsy, a psychotic illness, or you are under psychiatric care, talk to your clinician before using this — here or anywhere.
